Best of all just wrap it up at night and you’re ready to go the next day!

@china_ashleigh

How to: Clip-in extensions are an easy versatile tool that every natural girl needs to have in her repertoire. Clip-ins, like the ones from Xotica Hair, Afro Kinky Curly Clips and Kinky Curly Clips add length and volume and can save a failed twist out with 90s bob wig ease. You can get a texture that matches your curl pattern for a natural look or try a different curl pattern (or even get yaki extension) for a fun new look. Best of all, you can install the extensions just minutes and take them out just as quickly at the end of the night.

Updo

@akushikagonenatural

How to: A warm, humid summer evening is no match for an updo like the beautiful style created by akushikagonenatural. Whether you want to simply the secure the hair into a poof using a headband or secure it up with braids or twists these styles will show off your gorgeous face and keep your neck free of curly hair.

Headwraps

@chocolateblackdoll

How to: Headwraps are another fun tool that can save the day. Literally, nothing else works? Haven’t washed in a while? Need a standout piece? A headwrap has you covered. These regal pieces scream “queen”, even if your hair underneath doesn’t. Styled right these can work even in a formal setting. You can go with a solid color for a polished, boho or 20’s inspired look or go with a bold color or pattern like @chocolateblackdoll for a fun stand-out look.

Wig

@xoticahair

How to: The afro-textured wigs from Xotica Hair and Afro Kinky Curly Clips ain’t yo grandma’s wig. Perhaps the easier style of them all, a wig can have you ready and out the door before your Uber arrives. Definitely an investment piece, these type 4 curl pattern wigs have the potential to take you all the way from the first date to marriage. They will protect your natural hair from the heat and humidity of the summer while still giving that sexy afro-textured look that will drive your date crazy. Best of all, you can wear the wig in its natural state or try other styles like a twist out or braid out.www.xoticahair.com

Giovanni Avocado & Olive Oil Leave-In Spray

Giovanni Avocado & Olive Oil Leave-In Spray (4 fl oz) for dry, damaged hair.?

only and leave the rest of my hair to do what it pleases.?

wig chartGiovanni Avocado & Olive Oil Leave-In Spray

I wear wigs 99%25 of the time but kiki wigs try not to neglect my natural hair. I have found that braiding it up and leaving it alone is the best thing for it. One day, I’m confident I will feel patient enough to not relax at all. Back to the spray! It is supposed to:

Protects hair while heat-styling

I use this spray mostly in between washes. It works very well at making my coils super soft and moisturized! I part my hair into four sections and spray each section one at a time. After spraying one section, I will detangle and then move on to the next. I don’t like to detangle my hair when it is still wet (I lose too much hair that way), so I don’t opt to use this on wet hair. I let my hair air dry 85%25 of the time and only?blow dry?when I have things on my agenda. Those are a lot of claims the spray makes; I can co-sign the moisturize and nourish part but nothing else, really.?

I also love the way this smells; so fresh! Doesn’t smell like avocado or olive oil, but more like cucumbers! It’s got the texture/volume of a true liquid, like water. And with that, I feel like this spray didn’t really last me that long, though; I ran out after 3 months. I still have hair products from 3 years ago!

Easy to use and affordable! Highly recommend.?

Bronner Bros. celebrates 70 years of worldwide beauty

Candace Morrow reports from Georgia’s global beauty show

Cotton candy-coloured coiffures and razor-edged haircuts dominated Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show held Feb. 11-13 in the United State’s Atlanta, Georgia.

“This year is all about cuts, colours, relaxers and lighteners — all in one,” said professional stylist David Bechet of High Maintenance Salon in Baton Rouge, Lousiana, which carries CHI hair care products. “We’re here with CHI Deep Brilliance, a line that allows highly textured clients to relax, colour and lighten in one process that protects hair, not damage it.”

The mid-winter show — dubbed the nation’s largest and best multicultural beauty show — featured more than 300 hair and beauty companies and more than 100 educational classes at downtown’s Georgia World Congress Center.

Hair enthusiasts, celebrities, stylists and educators from around the globe donned vibrant hues and haute hairdos. Participants experienced live beauty demos, world-famous barber battles and hands-on technique sessions during the three-day event, too.

Natural hair and loc lovers showed up and showed out as well with creative beaded and bantu-knotted looks. And the doja cat wig Queen of Natural’s and Jamaican Mango & Lime’s national platform artist, Mz Lady Lox, wowed with a crimson-tiered dreadlock updo that actually rotated. Yeah, really.

The extravagant hair event has stood the test of beauty show time since 1947. The original Bronner Brothers, Nathaniel Bronner Sr. and Arthur Bronner Sr., held their first Bronner Bros. Beauty Show at a local Atlanta Youth Men’s Christian Association.

It grew from 300 stylists to more than 30,000 barbers, stylists, estheticians, nail technicians and students. Today, Nathaniel Bronner Sr.’s youngest son, James Bronner, serves as the show director.

Attendees have never seen the same hairstyle twice throughout the decades. Atlanta masterstylist Colette B. Alexander guaranteed it from her demo booth.

“You can’t duplicate my cuts,” said the skilled educator, who placed second in the 2014 Bronner Bros. speed cutting competition. “It’s a roller set technique — one that brings out the feistiness in my clients.”

Since innovative cuts and psychedelic colours set the tone for 2017 at Bronner Bros. and will continue to emerge on runways, in entertainment and along streets, Alexander offers this advice to those wanting to live on the “cutting” edge:

“If you decide to colour or cut your hair, you’ve got to have confidence in the look,” she said. “It doesn’t matter what size your head is, don’t let the cut wear you.”

‘Nowadays it’s about using less heat, so instead of tonging the hair after blow-drying, do a roller-set wrap to really channel that expensive salon-finish. To maintain, wrap the hair the opposite way you’re going to wear it as this will keep the volume and under curls intact.’

Bye bye sulfates

Removing this one ingredient can improve the condition of your hair

 You may see a lot of shampoos now opting to remove ‘sulfates’ from their ingredients, but what does this mean for your hair?

Sulphate or sulfate, is also known as, Sodium knotless wigs Laureth Sulfate – a very cheap salt chemical found in shampoo’s and conditioners. Though extremely cleansing on the hair, sulfates dry the hair out and absolutely strip natural oils from the hair. This then leads to brittleness resulting in breakage. Sulfate can also irritate the scalp and skin – so that scalp issue you thought you had may be due to using sulfate-laden products. Scarily, some sulfates actually create little holes in your strands, as they go deep to remove oil, leaving hair weaker and more porous. The sulfates that do this are the smaller, harsher sulfates, the ones with lauryl in their name – like sodium lauryl sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate.

Removing sulfates from your hair care regimen will give your hair the chance to benefit from the natural secretions from your scalp. You can still have clean hair but without the risk of damage or skin problems. Your hair will appreciate the extra care it is getting and it won’t be long before you start to notice the benefits.

If your shampoo bottle doesn’t specifically state ‘sulfate-free’, then the likelihood is that it contains sulfates. The best option is to look for products that clearly state that they are sulfate-free. Below we have listed eight sulfate-free shampoos that also hold additional benefits to you hair and scalp.
